any Connecticut sleevers with Oxford insurance?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I'm new to this site. I'm close to the end of the process of getting my surgery on the road to approval. I've had all my appointments for clearance, and tomorrow is my last dietitian visit. Then everything can be sent off to oxford to be approved. Has anyone here gone through oxford and how long did you have to wait for your approval? I can't wait to get a surgery date and begin my new healthy life!!!!!

Welcome ShellBell! I don't have Oxford, but wanted to welcome you!

You may want to try using the search forums for "connecticut".....I remember a thread for us nutmeggers.

You and I are in the same boat....today's my last NUT appointment before it gets sent off to Cigna.....If you haven't already, you might want to ask your surgeon's office what turnaround they are seeing with Oxford.......My surgeon told me they are typically seeing a 10 day turnaround for Cigna.

Who's your surgeon? Mine is Dr. C. Floch out of Fairfield/Norwalk..............Welcome, and best wishes!!!

EDITED: Here's the thread I was mentioning: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/36438-connecticut-sleevers/

Thanks so much for the welcome PattyGee!!!! My surgeon is Dr. Macaron in Middlebury. I'll have my surgery at St. Mary's Hospital. I did actually talk to Oxford a few weeks back and they told me that as long as they get everything they need and don't need to go back and fourth with the dr's office getting things, then its a pretty quick turnaround. I don't think i'll relax till I get the go ahead from the insurance and get a surgery date!!!! If all goes well maybe by August????

Thanks Janice! !! If you don't mind my asking, how are you doing since your surgery? How was your recuperation? I have 2 small children and I'm just wondering what to expect and if I'm going to be out of commission for a bit. Thanks!!!!

Janice, I love your new picture, you look great! How are you doing? (you can send me a PM)

ShellBell, I'm hoping for July, would also be happy to have it in August--I don't want to wait until September---tough for scheduling time off......

felt like today would never get here.....and it seems in a blink of an eye, here we are!

My recovery was great. I stayed one night at the hospital and was off pain meds when I left the hospital. The worst part was the gas pains and I slept in a recliner for 2 nights. The heating pad was a life saver. I was sleeping on my belly by night 4. I dont have any kids yet but I was able to walk my 65lb dog by day 4/5 and Went back to work as a nanny on day 5. If your children are old enough not to have to be picked up I think you will probably be okay after a few days but everyone's recovery is a little different. I havent had any issues with food and can now eat basically any kind of Protein.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
