Sweet Spot

Recommended Posts

Okay, so here's my question. What exactly is the definition of the "sweet spot"? I understand it can take some time to get to that point. Are there people here that are at their sweet spot and if so can you share with us? ;) Thanks guys,

Becca

Becca-

My doc's stats show that it takes about 5 adjustments to get to the "sweet spot". I know that I am close to that spot. I have had 3 total adjustments and can't wait til Tues for my next fill. NOW remember- everyone is different- some people get there faster than that.

I am not banded but I have read that it is when you get the proper restriction with a fill. Some people get it without any fill (very few), some people get it with one to three fills. Sometimes it takes 2 weeks or more to feel your fill. Premenstrual times for women and stress make the band tighter. Some people feel more restriction in the morning and after exercise, or drinking cold beverages.< /p>

The sweet spot isnt really sweet. It just is the point where you dont feel physical hunger between your regularly planned meals. If you keep hydrated, this usually makes most adjustments sweet, untill you do not continue to loose at least 1 lb per week.

My Dr. feels that this moniker is unfair as it causes some people to believe that they can feel no hunger, eat what they want, and still loose the weight.

I agree with him after not finding a sweet spot after one year, adjustments and all. I now know that it is called sweet because you continue to loose weight, with minimal hunger.

I hope this helps, If you eat the foods that pack your pouch, and chew carefully, and drink no sooner that 30 min after eating, your hunger, satification, homones have the opportunity to complete registration in the brain.

The sweet spot does nothing to alleviate head hunger, just tummy or true hunger. I dont know, perhaps there are people that can explain what they mean by the sweet spot. There isnt a hard and fast definition in my mind.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
