I havent lost much weight and the docs and nutritionist feel it is bacause of the anitpsychotics I take. I am on high doses of three of them.

I hate my panni as it hangs below my pubic bone.I also want to Lipo on my hips. I have found one dr in TJ willing to take on the case. I was turned down totally by one doc and the other would do the panni but the lipo.

Has anyone in my position looked into this surgery

I have had this surgery...back in 2009 before I had WLS...I hesitated even posting this because I don't really want to influence you one way or the other, but you did ask so I will tell you my experience..usually drs will "stage" the panni based on how low it hangs--mine was in close to the worst stage because it hung down almost to my knees (I have short legs)...it was difficult for me to find a dr to perform the panniculectomy but I did find a surgeon who performed it, and he was an excellent surgeon...I was warned before of the risks, but mine was hanging so low it was affecting my mobility, and I was getting all kinds of serious skin infections...I ended up having complications because I had a massive lymphedema on one side, and I had a lot of necrotized (dead) tissue that had to be removed...I was in the hospital in rehab and such for 3 months and on home health care for another 2 months...I ended up having to have a skin graft over almost my entire abdomen...but I did recover and am much more mobile (even before my recent WLS), and I do not regret I did it...that is my story

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
