Let us know how yours went when you are up to it.

I am still in the pre-op testing phase. My EDG is Tuesday 8/6. My sleep study is 8/9! I would love to begin my 2wk pre-op diet on 8/12 so I can get it done by the end of the month. My 2wk vacation is my window of opportunity.

The EDG was fine. Nothing big to worry about. When they tried the first time I threw up. They gave me more meds and I passed smooth out. I don't remember a thing. I just have a little sore throat and that's it! Bring on the surgery that's WEDNESDAY!!!!!!

I'm scheduled for August 8. Just found out toddy. I've read on here about 1-2 weeks on liquid diet. My doctor only told me to be on the liquid diet for two days prior to surgery. Anybody know why the times are so different?

My doctor had me start a protien diet with no more than 70 grams of carbs the week before surgery. Every doctor is different from what I have read in these comments. I am following the Atkins phase 1 online diet right now and tomorrow nothing to eat, only sips of Water since my surgery is tomorrow.

I've started my pre-op all liquid diet that I'll be in for two weeks....then I will be sleeved!

How about you?

Thankfully my doc didn't require a pre-op diet. Monday I have my pre-op Hosp appt and Wed. my PCP medical clearance and then sleeved on the 14th.

My doc did require a slew of preliminary testing by various specialist so it's taken me months to get to this point. Super excited!

My only concerns are my mental desires to eat and drink the things I love.

I was told by my surgeon I cannot have single incision bc of possible scar tissue or adhesions from my lap band. He wants to be able to see from both directions. So 5 more incisions for me :-(

Rather be safe! Best of luck!

Recommendations for my August Sleever Family:

Get pillows - it makes it easier to get you into a comfortable position

Heating pad or rice bag - even if your shoulder doesn't hurt you are still on your back quite a bit. The heat from the pad helps to relieve some of muscle stress

Get Mio Sports - it has electrolytes and B Vitamins - something a little more than Water and clear Soup and the electrolytes help with Fluid absorption

Walk - I know it will hurt but walk when you can' date=' go slow' keep shoulders back, and eyes up (your feet have not changed so no Need to stare at them.

Use your leg muscles and not your stomach muscles when getting up and down off seats - less pain (plus your first mini workout :) )

Get Chloraseptic spray - it helps to get those important fluids down

Lastly ask for and accept help. With your care givers help it helps take off the strain at times where your stomach muscles might engage.[/quote']

Thanks for the tips!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
