nagem 73 Posted June 30, 2013 My surgery is July 8th and my surgeon has said nothing to me about what to eat after , my mom had the bypass done a few years back so she pretty much knows the deal but most of you have shakes and supplements and I have none of that and it's making me more and more nervous ahhhh
JoiaRox 430 Posted June 30, 2013 Call your surgeon first thing tomorrow and tell him your concerns - you need to be fully prepared for this!
Mrs.RRn 2,111 Posted June 30, 2013 This is a good place to start. Browse through to have an idea of what you'll be eating after, but always follow your DR's plan. Good luck!!! For me, my diet was : Week 1- Clear liquids - sugar free Jello, popsicles, Water, broth Week 2- full liquids- I started Protein shakes this week. I HATED the ones I originally bought, so I switched to Carnation Instant Breakfast no sugar added and I added unflavored Protein powder (isopure) and I had creamy Soups (no potato). Week 3- soft foods- I ate mostly canned tuna, tuna salad, chicken salad, and Greek yogurt Week 4- I'll be starting more solid foods on Tuesday. Basic rules--must drink 64oz a day, must have at least 60g of Protein a day.
antinette 19 Posted July 1, 2013 I am having my surgery the same day as you. The surgeon should have gone over everything with you step by step already.
