Just curious...(and I will ask my doctor the same question when I see him next) ... But do any of you know when we are "out of the woods" on the whole sleeve leaking issue? Is it a month, 6 months?

I believe I was told that most leaks (key word: most) are discovered within the first two weeks.

When I had my two week I asked about the risk of complications he said after the first 4 days you are less liking to experience complications like a leak but he didn't say I was out of the clear but that it would be highly unlikely. So I'm almost 5 weeks out and knocking on wood that things go well for the recovery even though I feel normal now.

My doctor told me that people are pretty much healed by 6 weeks, but some people have leaks that are discovered up to months after surgery. Those leaks are most of the time, there all along, but don't get discovered to later.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
