Pregnancy and soda craving

Recommended Posts

17 weeks pregnant. 1 year 2 months post op

I had a 20 ounce of diet orange soda today. Just really wanted the bubbles for some reason.

Did not make me sick. Did not make me uncomfortable.

I know we are not supposed to have carbonation and I'm scared I am goin down a bad road, but I just really want the damn soda...

Suggestions?

Anyone else have anything similar?

The orange crush Water flavorings are a life saver to me!

I buy them at Safeway grocery store. They taste exactly like real crush without the carbonation :)

Or sugar.

I found these at Target. I love the strawberry flavor. Walmart has new flavors under their Great Value brand. I've been stocking up for the big event.

The ones at target are they the same brand?

I am 7 weeks post-op and recently treated myself to a sonic slush, I asked if they could make a diet dr pepper slush and they said it was simple and there was no carbonation. It was amazing, and really hit the spot.

Don't do it. Seriously.

Drinky calories and carbs are bad, bad, bad. I indulge in a small soda now and again but I have to be very, very careful not to make it a habit.

Some folks do fine with it. Carbonation isn't the issue. The issue is that you can mindlessly drink an extra eight hundred calories in a day if you don't pay attention and if it becomes a habit.

I fully embrace the idea of moderation and not denying ourselves foods we really enjoy. But I also embrace sensibility and if you can't have just one soda once in a while I'd stay away from it completely. It's a trigger food for me and once I have it, I want it every day. If I bring a six pack into the house I'm going to drink one a day until they're all gone, and once they're gone I am going to feel a little sad that they're gone and want to buy more.

Find a substitute that isn't filled with intentionally addictive substances.

Good luck,

~Cheri

So true. I have my place filled with various low caloric drink mixes. The variety is fun.

Someone on here recommended the sugar-free Sodastream flavors (they're sold at Walmart, Target, etc) to be mixed with Water, not using carbonation. I tried the sugar-free root beer and sugar-free pink grapefruit. They're really good and a nice change...I bought the sugar-free/caffeine-free cola, but haven't tried that yet.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
