Excessive Tiredness ......Help!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved May 8th of this year and in addition to constant nausea I'm now excessively fatigued. I'm taking my Vitamins as recommended which includes a Multivitamin, Iron, B12, and calcium citrate. I get at least 9 hours of sleep but still feel tired all the time.

Things are so bad that I can't do any house or yard work. Going up and down the steps to get Water is exhausting. I've went back to work two weeks after surgery and in the middle of the day I have to close my door just to lay down.

I'm not sure if my tiredness is because I'm not getting enough Protein. My new stomach diesnt like chicken (slight vegan). I drink atleast 46oz of water each day.

Has anyone else experience this, how did you resolve the issue? I really need help.

I know this sounds odd, but the more I exercise, the more energy I have. I was sleeved 5/16 and I started back swimming and Martial Arts week 3. I have steadily increased my efforts each week (still not going full pace). I sleep harder at night, wake up more refreshed and have had more energy with each passing day.

It was hard at first, but so worth the effort.

Baby steps.

How much Protein are you getting? That could be it!

I shoot for 90g a day. My guidelines are 60-90 g per day.

My NP says that I have to go back at my 8 week mark and if I'm not better have an endoscopy and possibly a dilation. Let's hope that doesn't happen!

I was able to eat 1oz of hamburger for dinner and a few tablespoons of quiche for Breakfast today with no issues. That was a HUGE victory for me. :)

Thanks all I really appreciate it. It's nice to know I'm not alone. I'm sure that I'm not getting any where close to the recommended amount of protien. This has been really harder than expected.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
