lyd83 2 Posted June 29, 2013 Dying for just one bite w hot sauce. Will it kill me??
takingbackcontrol 137 Posted June 30, 2013 Probably. Why don't you ask that question of your doctor?
jensjoy28 351 Posted June 30, 2013 Yes, that will kill you......................seriously, No time like the present to start tackling the head hunger issues...you don't NEED rice, you WANT rice, and being able to effectively tell yourself "no" and move on is an important step you will need to repeat ad naseum in the coming weeks, months and years. I am not as militant as some in their view on simple carbs like rice, however, that soon after surgery, that really is a bad choice...little pieces of rice near your staple line is just an unnecessary risk. 7 SheWins1, ladylaura, SleevedLife and 4 others reacted to this
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted June 30, 2013 Rice is said to be especially hard on the sleeve. I wouldn't go there at only 10 days out. Can you have eggs yet? if so, go have a scrambled egg with hot sauce.. if you aren't allowed eggs yet, then have some chicken broth with hot sauce in it. 3 Melixxa, DonRodolfo and NtvTxn reacted to this
Nuchnuch 120 Posted June 30, 2013 Rice isn't on my diet until month
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted June 30, 2013 Not a good idea. Rice swells in the tummy and that's not a good idea on a new staple line. There are so many yummy things you can add hot sauce to. (I feel ya' there, I love hot!) eggs, refried Beans with a little added Water to loosen them, well cooked spaghetti squash, even add a dash or two to a Soup that you can eat. No rice. Conquer that. 1 Melixxa reacted to this

******** 397 Posted June 30, 2013 Remember you cannot have Water with your meal so I dont know if hotsauce is considered a meal or a drink...why dont you put it on something with Protein like eggs or chicken. ..not sure whats allowed in your diet now
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted June 30, 2013 Sure! What can you eat?
LipstickLady 25,682 Posted June 30, 2013 Hot sauce is not a meal nor is is a liquid. It's a condiment. I put it in my egg drop Soup, in my pureed chili, in my chicken salad, eggs... The hardest part is not drinking with it because I like my hot sauce HOT. 1 jensjoy28 reacted to this
NoneYa 380 Posted June 30, 2013 Dying for just one bite w hot sauce. Will it kill me?? I have Dr Nick too. He was pretty firm when telling me that I had to do Clear Liquids for 3 weeks post-op to allow the surgery to heal well and avoid problems or leaks. 2 Kami63 and newat52 reacted to this

Don't get me wrong, I love me some hot sauce, but I never considered it any differently than any other condiment. 3 LipstickLady, SheWins1 and Laurambers reacted to this
NoneYa 380 Posted June 30, 2013 No eggs. If it doesn't run through a strainer it's not ok until after week 3.
newat52 1,613 Posted June 30, 2013 I have Dr Nick too. He was pretty firm when telling me that I had to do clear liquids for 3 weeks post-op to allow the surgery to heal well and avoid problems or leaks. As another Dr. Nicholson patient, follow what he says. I am now more than 16 weeks out and life is great. The liquid for the first 3 weeks is not fun but there is a purpose for it. It will be worth the wait! I still have not tried rice or breads, it just doesn't seem worth it but I can eat anything else. Hang in there, he told me several times it will be worth it and it is! 3 NoneYa, Kami63 and jensjoy28 reacted to this

I don't know why you can't make a thin watery Soup and add hot sauce to it. Just blend it and make it thin and smooth enough to go through a strainer.
