As soon as I was home I started shakes and liquids. I came home the evening after surgery, started the next day.

I was discharged on full liquids which included shakes for me.

Get yourself some Isopure RTD - that's considered a clear and has comparable Protein to any of the shakes.

Unfortunately all doctors seem to create a different nutritional program and it is usually based on what has worked best for them. I was in the hospital 2 days and was on full liquids once I left the hospital.

My surgeon had me on shakes and puréed food from day 3 when I left the hospital.

That said, I would not recommend that you deviate from the plan that is in place for you. All our plans are different, and we all get different advice from our surgeons and NUTs, but we are all different too! There is no cookie cutter plan for this. So best to stick with the plan they give you.

I was discharged on full liquids which meant Protein shakes, cream Soups, yogurt (no fruit), SF Jello and SF pudding.

Have you tried adding Protein powder to broth?

Protein Shakes (New Directions) from day 3. But, honestly - Isopure Protein Drinks saved the day for me - the first several days. They are clear liquid, 40 grams Protein per 20 oz bottle, don't need to be mixed and went down well in my swollen sleeve.

I was discharged on Clear Liquids and skim milk. After 2 weeks (my 1st post op appt) I'll graduate to full liquids, then 2 weeks of purees, 2 weeks of soft food, then normal diet. Every one is different!

The hospital was bringing me shakes (not the clear ones, either, regular Protein Shakes mixed with milk) the morning after surgery. I've had no problem with them other than that I have to take them slow, they fill me up pretty quickly.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
