Hi!

I have a question. Yesterday I woke up feeling very thirsty. I got up and took my meds and drank my Protein Shake that I tend to sip throughout the day. Yesterday I felt so thirsty right after lunch that from that point on that I stopped drinking my shake so I can fit as much Water in as possible.

I just woke a bit ago and I feel so thirsty! I weighed myself and I lost 5 pounds in 2 days. My ave has been about a pound a day. Is this normal? Am I doing the right thing by drinking water instead of my Protein? I drink Isopure. I find water to be way more thirst quenching. I am struggling to get my protein in but I am getting in more as each day passes

I am 12 days post op.

Thanks in advance!

If you're thirsty, you're thirsty. It may be awhile before you can meet the daily Fluid AND Protein requirements - just keep listening to your body and "feeding" it what it needs. You're only 12 days out - it will get easier!

Is it the Isopure protein water drink in glass bottles or is it the shake? If it's the protein water, you are fine. You need that protein for health reasons and fat lose / muscle gain. Maybe try s.f. popsicles or Jello, if u cant drink water down. Best of luck!

I have never had the type of protien powder that is clear and you can mix with water... From what I understand you do even know you are drinking the protien at all. Honestly, I would suggest looking onto something like that so you can get in all of your daily needs.... It does get easier. Best wishes

It's Isopure

My doctor recommended it. Good Protein and they are already pre- made

I have the exact same problem . I had to do something because I felt like I would end up in the ER for dehydration. I would wake up with an extremely dry tongue and ravaged at ice when I got the chance. I have found that I being only 2 wks out I can't get in both all Proteins and liquids.

I need to buy Isopure I heard its easier to take down because of the thinness.

How's the taste? Does it have that after Protein taste?

I feel it's the best, but yes it does have a lil after taste. I make it better by mixing half of it with crystal light lemonade, then I don't notice it. I also freeze it in a popsickle holded I bought at Walmarg for $1.50. For me I get it down faster that way. I still have a hard time getting my Protein in , just cuz I get so full so quickly. Good luck & I hope this helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
