Today is my one year anniversary (June 28) of my weight loss surgery. Yes, I am a gastric sleeve weight loss patient and I have NO regrets. I needed to do something because I was dying. There was a sense of urgency due to Obstructive sleep apnea, high blood pressure and bad knees. I am happy to report that I no longer suffer from these illnesses that were brought on by obesity. My surgery, by one of the best surgeons in Houston, Dr. Ken Hollis was a blessing from God. I am so amazed how God used him and He certainly gets the glory. I walked almost daily after the surgery until recently when I joined 24 Hour Fitness June 1. I now have enough energy to workout everyday and I love it. I'm looking for a personal trainer to help me go where I've never gone before. Yes, I want to be softly ripped! I know some frown upon surgery and say it's cheating. Well, cheating saved my life! I did what worked for me at over 40. I hope my testimony is encouragement for someone else. We am still in the struggle but no longer struggling.

Wow you look great!! I am so ready for my time to come. I heard negative comments too. The top one was if God wanted you smaller you would be that way. I'm doing this for me to be healthy and happy and can't wait to get to where you at!

I believe God presents us with opportunities when we need them. Go for it in faith. He brought you to this point, He will see it through!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
