2notbwinded 27 Posted June 29, 2013 When does it go away? it's driving me insane!!! Worse than the incision pain or the acid (close 2nd BTW), this gas is unbearable! I'm taking like 4 gasX pills a day and walking around my apartment and outside. Even doing light chores like sweeping and moping! I can't sip too much Water and it's HOT so I'm avoiding too much outside walking. What else can I do to get rid of this gas. I'm so done with it!!!

Rox 200 Posted June 29, 2013 It will go away - but you've got to walk, walk, walk. If your having shoulder pain, a heating pad will help
BrittNicole 12 Posted June 29, 2013 This is something I'd like to know also. I'm 2 and a half weeks out and still have awful problems with gas. It feels like I'm getting air trapped in my chest and I can't burp and it hurts! I'm taking prilosec (also getting terrible heartburn), zofran and gas x and I walk everyday. I eat slowly and take small bites but still have problems. I don't get it.
skrubabilen 41 Posted June 29, 2013 Just a thought, but sometimes the way we use to drink may contribute to the gas. So if you are using a straw, I would suggest stopping for a while. Be conscious of how you are swallowing liquids and try to not gulp air at the same time. Also, I found that if I spread out my drinking, say two sips (minus the air, lol) every couple if minutes, the reflux was much better. My nut said I was drinking too much at one time and that's why my reflux was so miserable. Once I changed those habits, I felt tons better. Good luck to you, it does get better! 2notbwinded 27 Posted June 29, 2013 I feel I can't get in enough Water... In fact I think I may be dehydrating fast! It's really hot here in NY and I can only get about 2 or 3 oz in before my stomach hurts. today I have diarrhea, my limbs are tingling and slight muscle spasms all signs of dehydration.... Not sure what to do... it's saturday so surgeons office is closed... And the gas won't go but that's now lower in my priority list... 1 kw2walker reacted to this

Nursebarbie 392 Posted June 29, 2013 I think you should leave a message for your doctor before your. Kidneys shut down (acute renal failure) from not enough liquid to make urine. I am post op day one and find that drinking very small sips of coconut Water is tolerable along with diluted mio.

If not keep sipping your fluids.
2notbwinded 27 Posted June 30, 2013 I called my surgeon's office they weren't much help... Someone in another thread suggested warm liquids which seemed counterintuitive in the summertime, but REALLY works! I can 'fit' more warm liquids at a time than cold (which hurt!) Thanks to EVERYONE. I know it's an adjustment. I just didn't know how tricky an adjustment it would be. The gas is sorting itself little by little probably cause I'm taking like 4 gasx tablets a day for it. Caaattt: I'm in Park Slope, Brooklyn... Are you close? I'm looking for a workout buddy for when I'm cleared for exercise! 1 kw2walker reacted to this
******** 397 Posted June 30, 2013 I was told gas x strips do not work for this type of gas. Mine went away at day 4 or 5. Hang in there.
laners777 145 Posted June 30, 2013 @2notbwinded....I am 6 days out and I hear you about the gas. Not to be gross but....I had first BM this morning and so much of that pressure went away and I feel so much better. I also drink hot tea a couple of times a day and that helped tons. I think this morning is the first day I have felt semi back to normal where my body isn't doing the wierd things like hands tingling, gas, burps, etc. I know we aren't supposed to use a straw but I'm a gulper if I drink straight from a cup and get too much air that way. Since I started using a straw and drinking small sips, the pressure between my shoulder blades has gone away and I have gotten in 64ounces of Water the last two days. I hope you start feeling better....btw we are same surgery date, and weight and goal weights...small world. Take care of yourself! 2 kw2walker and 2notbwinded reacted to this
