Single... but to shy to mingle

Practice' date=' practice, practice. You need to find your inner goddess. Steps to finding your inner goddess:

Step 1: look in front of the mirror after you've dolled yourself up, and say things--out loud--to yourself like, "I'm hot." "I'm beautiful." "I'm sexy." I'm SERIOUS!!! It works to build more confidence, and confidence is key. Do it EVERYDAY! I promise this works (I work with young girls with self esteem issues, however I don't use the hot or sexy lines with them)

Step 2: pretend your an actress with impromptu lines. Go up to a random guy at an outing (grocery store, restaurant, sports bar, etc.) and say, "Hi, I'm ____. What's your name?" Make sure to force yourself to make eye contact. (Women who make eye contact and hold it or maintain it throughout a conversation make a showmanship of their confidence. ) Continue to make small talk, "I'm new to the area and I'm trying to branch out and make new acquaintances. Are you from here? What social clubs/restaurants do you suggest?" You have to practice. Write down questions and or possible conversation starters. Stick to topics you can converse about well. And despite being or feeling uncomfortable, make continual eye contact. Practice.

Step 3: make small gestures. Gestures can be made with your eyes, hands, and body. A touch of the arm or shoulder when something is funny or shocking. When he says something flirty use a side glance that is slightly hooded with small smile to acknowledge the gesture. Lean in towards him with your body. Practice.

Step 4: walk in, no matter where you go, like you're the sh*t. Back straight, chin up, confident stride. Even if you don't feel like you are, you have to psyche yourself out. Again, pretend your an actress playing a role. When you practice this over and over, you begin to believe it and feel it, and before you know it, you are confident women ready to conquer anything.

Sorry for the long post, but I'm all about women empowering themselves with confidence. Good luck!

Oh WOW thanks! I will try it! I always wanted to be an actress so this will be my shot! I might say I was blushing as I was reading it, but you have me step by step and I will follow! Thanks! :) I just attempted to flirt with a guy on the site, lol I am worried what he will think, but like someone said they don't know me so what do I have to lose?

I too was shy but since losing the weight I have gained confidence. My one friend told me to just be myself and to put myself out there. I have met some guys and am doing stuff I would have never had the guts to do before. Here are some of my tips

When I go out with friends I always look my best and have a blast with them Giggle, smile, dance, sing...and if a guy makes eye contact smile at him, look away for a second, then look back and smile...if he is interested he will approach.

If you are dancing and a guy comes up to you to dance have a series of hand gestures with your friends...one that says help get me out of here another that says I am ok.

The one that I found most useful was to just let go and have fun. Don't read too much into it. Don't think too much. You don't have to say much. Listen, maybe touch his arm or hand. Smile, play with your hair. Respond to his questions. If you blush that is ok too. Remember guys get shy and nervous too. If a guy is really interested in you he will be very obvious. Also I am pretty oblivious when it comes to guys flirting. My friends had to point out to me that guys were checking me out, so chances are you are being checked out. Have fun :)

I wish you were in FL! I would be your coach! I seriously think flirting is an art form. I was in Malta for work and the men were delicious and my colleague was also very shy and was so blown away at how I "work the room" and would get us free drinks everywhere we went. She told me to write a book. After 2 weeks with me, she picked up a few tips.

Another really easy way to practice is on waiters or bartenders (in non crowded bar). Pay attention to the waiters name and address him by it. When he asks if you are ready to order reply with "Michael, if this is my last meal, what must I have from this menu. I am putting my last meal in your hands so don't let me down" he'll know you are playing around but it's fun. I did this last night and the waiter wanted to suggest everything we ate after that! You can keep it up after he comes over to see if you like it and respond "delicious, will you come with me everywhere I order" or "I knew I was in goods hands with you Michael".

Waiters are captive audiences and used to most people ignoring them or being rude so they love a nice customer, let alone a pretty girl! Plus, you are required to talk to them so there's no awkward approaching a stranger obstacle.

With a bartender, you can say something like "I don't want anyone else making my drinks but you. Take care of me, and I'll take care if you. And make sure no one slips me anything"

As everyone else said smiling and eye contact go a long way.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
