No Co-Morbidities and BCBS IL PPO

Recommended Posts

Anyone have experience with a BMI of 35 and no co-morbidities? I have BCBS PPO. I am doing a sleep study next week and having hba1c blood test. I have a family history of sleep apnea, diabetes, hpb, thyroid issues, but for now, i don't think i have any of these. I have plantar fasciitis, major depression (on meds) and urinary incontinence. Do those help?

I have this exact same insurance, only my husband works for boeing. I called the number on my insurance card and asked where I could view the insurance policy for bariactric surgery online so that I could see the exact requirements. If you have a bmi under 40 but at least 35 you need 2 comorbidities, the ones they accept are: high blood pressure, disilipedemia ( high cholesterol), diabetes, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea or coronary heart disease. I have a bmi of 35 and have had high BP for 15 years and had a sleep study recently where they diagnosed me with moderate sleep apnea. They require you to see a nutritionist and get a psych evaluation and if you have your surgery done at a blue distinction center of excellence will pay at 100%. This is all they require and your surgeon's office should set up all these appointments for you. I don't know what a hba1c blood test is. Now this is for my husbands employers insurance. Other bsbs policies may be different.

I have the exact same insurance...and with a BMI of 35 you need at least 2 co-morbidities. I was worried that I wouldn't qualify because the docs office never told me I was diabetic (in those exact words)...but they were treating high blood sugar with meds. I was also on blood pressure meds and at one time I had elevated cholesterol (treated by meds but then I was taken off of them due to side effects). So I wasn't sure if I would qualify or not. Turns out my primary care submitted all three to insurance and I was approved with the first submission to insurance.

When I went back to see my pcp at 4 days post-op I was taken off of the diabetes meds!! and I expect to be taken off blood pressure meds in the very near future. I'm guessing that my cholesterol will also be back in line the next time I test. And the best part....I've lost 18 lbs and I feel GREAT!

They counted my disc degeneration disease is a co-morbid. Do you have any back issues? If so, BCBSIL (under my policy) puts that into the osteoarthritis category. Good luck!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
