piercedqt78 658 Posted June 28, 2013 Like the title says I am 7 weeks post-op and I believe I may have torn my labrum in my left shoulder. I tore my right one 3 years ago, and again last year. This is the exact same pain, and feeling. I have an apt with the ortho, but can't see them for 3 weeks. Is there a time frame that I should wait to have surgery? Any concerns I need to be aware of this soon post-op?

piercedqt78 658 Posted June 29, 2013 I already feel great. I have lost 30 pounds in 6 weeks, and I'm not tired at all. I have a 12 year old daughter and she is a great help. Sadly, I lost my job in order to have my band removed and the sleeve preformed. It was an emergency, as I was unable to keep solid food down for over a month, and I was starting to struggle with liquids. My insurance approved me on a Tuesday evening (may 7th) and my surgery was the very next day. I had seen the NUT, and since I had a band before I was able to skip the psych apt and the monthly weigh-in. We weren't sure if the sleeve was possible at the same time, but since I didn't want to miss anymore that absolutely needed from work. My surgeon wanted to do the sleeve 8-10 weeks later, but I explained that I couldn't take more time off, and since my stomach wasn't too badly scarred he did it same day. I'm left handed, so having to have my left shoulder repaired is going to suck. Sorry for the huge run-on sentence but for some reason I can't make spaces in between paragraphs. piercedqt78 658 Posted July 1, 2013 ok, so my apt with the ortho was moved to next week. The pain is worse, and the numbness is not going away anymore. I called my surgeon and was told that they don't recommend nsaids, but everything else can go on like normal surgery. They also suggested liquid pain meds, since pain meds are usually large, and can be rough on the stomach. So basically just like when I had my band. The surgeon got on the phone, and wished me well with my surgery, and recovery. He also asked that I call them and update my progress with my shoulder. I thought that was very nice of him.
