Pillow or Stuffed Bear?

Recommended Posts

For those of you who took a pillow or bear to the hospital to hold against your stomach when you walk, do you use soft or firm? Does it help the first few days? Not sure if I need one or not.

I didn't take a pillow with me to the hospital, and I didn't need a pillow when I walked. However, I did bring home one of the hospital pillows. It is smaller and flatter than my bed pillows, and it feels good tucked under my belly since I am a side sleeper. I am 9 days out today, and I'm still using it each night. :)

I brought my own pillow for sleeping and used the hospital pillow to hold over my abdomen to cough. The hospital also gave me an abdominal binder and that helped a lot. The hospital pillow was firm but soft enough.

I guess it just depends on each case, but I didn't have an ounce of pain other than gas pains. Wishing that for you. Walking was simple too, I think I walked slower Andorra painful after a normal birth. Good luck!

I used my flat pillow to cover my stomach when we were in the car. I didn't want the seatbelt rubbing my incisions. I did have some larger incisions because I had a lap-band removed. I did use a pillow to support my stomach as I am a side sleeper.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
