Caloric Intake

Recommended Posts

I've just begun my puréed stage. I was wondering from all of you with experience, how many calories were you taking in at this stage?

I plan on calling my nutritionist tomorrow. I'd just like to ask all you pro's too ;)

Thanks everyone!

And my plan ignores calories at this stage (and does so for 2 months!). Focus is on liquid and Protein intake till all is well healed. Then we will shift to the meal plans and caloric intake... Remember, our new stomach is forever so there is no rush!

I agree with the above poster - I'm taking in anywhere from 800-1300 calories, and I only know that because I'm entering everything into MyFitnessPal so that I can track my Protein. When I mentioned this to my doctor and NUT on Tuesday, they didn't bat an eye - they said they don't care about calories or weight loss right now as long as I get my protein, fluids & Vitamins in.

When I was at the pureed stage I got maybe 300 calories in on a good day. I am almost 3 months out and I struggle to get to 1000 calories a day. Everyone is different though, see how you feel, how your body is responding and losing and personalize what you take in for whatever works for you! Good luck!

So I had surgery on June 10th. How many calories am I supposed to consume? I am about 1000-1200 a day. Is that OK?

During puree stage, I was 200-400 a day. Felt fine eating that amount at that time.

What should my caloric intake be at almost 4 mos. out?

At 4 months out, try to target 600-900 for best results. After 6 months, target 900-1200. The following 6 months can be a slow ramp up to 1600-2100 calories. Ramping up calories also assumes you are ramping up exercise as well.

When I was on purees I was getting 700-900 calories. Actually when I went to solid food my calories dipped a bit because solid food filled me up a LOT better than purees and I felt my restriction for the first time! I'm now four and a half months out and I'm targeting 1240 calories a day.... in practice I'm getting 900-1250 a day and I don't force myself to eat the 1240 if I I'm not hungry.

Also my caloric intake is that of someone a bit further out... My sleeve has a larger capacity than most sleevers (long stomach) and I did 3.5 months of a VLCD prior to surgery so my body is already responding as if it was sleeved 3.5 months before it actually was.

I was at my one month appointment yesterday and I am supposed to be under 500 Calories until I am 6 months out. I will be up to 1000 calories by the time I am a year out. Right now at 5 weeks I get 300-400 in on average. My plan is strict three meals no Snacks. 1 Protein Shake.< /p>

My NUT and Dr said not to worry about calories during the pureed stage, too. According to MFP, I am between 500 - 600 a day right now.

Once I move on to soft foods, then the aim would be 800ish a day.

I have more to lose than most, so that probably plays a part in the decision making on calories.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
