Hey there! I'm in Charlotte. My PCP is Jessica Kaiser at Carmel Family Physicians in Pineville. She is fantastic! She was totally on board with my WLS. She only accepts patients 3 days a week because she is now head of the practice and she is expecting a baby in October, so if you are interested, book now to see her. Their number is (704) 667-3600. They are a part of Carolina's HealthCare System.

My surgeon is at Carolina's Weight Management, which is affiliated with Carolina's HealthCare System also.

Good luck!

HI!

I so took your advice and called the office. Dr. Kaiser isn't taking on any new patients but I was able to get an appointment with Dr. Davis who works in the same office and she told me that she works with WLS patients too! Looks like I may have found someone. I have appointment with her July! I am super happy!!!!! Thank you!

That's awesome! I'm glad you got an appointment there. They are top notch. My husband works for Carolina's Healthcare, and trust me they will take good care of you.

Best of luck on your appointment.

Hi All,

I am looking to start a support group in Cornelius, NC. I own a coffee shop in Cornelius and am looking to host an evening for both those you are about to have surgery and those that have already had it. I had surgery in Mexico and find that I am falling off the wagon so to speak, I just think it will be good to swap idea's and stories. Anyone interested please let me know.

Thanks,

Charlie

Hi Charlie,

I am down! I would LOVE to find a local support group! Would rather not do on work week because traffic is a BEAR. How do the weekends work for the support group?

Thanks,

Jen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
