I've never posted on here but I've read books worth of posts on here. I had surgery at 3 with Dr. Ramos Kelly in TJ. Got here and was extremely nervous and I started crying on the table when they put me under. Granted I'm only 19. Dr. Kelly is amazing but the nurse are great too however the language barrier is kind of an issue. As for pain, it's awful. I've been crying, screaming, and being rude because I'm in pain. After what I've read, I didn't think it would be that bad. And I'm on some serious pain drugs too. Walking makes me throw up but I still do it. I can't sleep for more than 30 minutes. Please pray for me y'all

I am 1 week out of surgery, and if you can stay ahead of the pain, with the pain meds, that might help. It is painful, no doubt, but I promise you that next week at this time you will feel significantly better, and most likely will be off pain meds. Just take a day at a time, get as much rest as you can,as that helps heal.

Thank you all so much! How did y'all deal with getting up and down without feeling like you are straining your stomach?

I still feel like I am straining my stomach, even though it's better then a week ago. But I just put my hand on my stomach to hold it, roll to my side, and slowly pull up to sit. It's faster now, but still a bit sore. Just takes time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
