What happens if you aren't cleared for the psyc test? Do they have you come in and talk about it? Give you a second chance or can you try again eventually or is that it? I'm still waiting to hear back about mine but just want to know

Vixey, I think a lot depends on the psychologist & the surgeon, as well as exactly why the person was not cleared. There are some reasons that might be able to be worked out in a pretty short time frame, but there are other issues that could be far more serious. My guess is that if you are not cleared the psych will give you a full explanation as to why & you can then see what the options are. I wouldn't worry about it, though. I think the number of folks who don't clear the psych eval are pretty low. Good luck to you!

I got called in after my psych eval and I thought I had failed, but what they wanted was for me to have three individual counseling sessions, one before my surgery, and two after. So I was cleared for surgery after my first session, and I still need two more sessions, which I am fine with.

i asked him and he said I wouldn't need any appointments he will talk with my therapist that if had for 2 years and then talk with the bariatric team and give me a call in a few weeks.

I'm not at all worried about my therapist. She told me to give him her number and supports this choice and is proud of how well I have come (was being taken advantage of by my guardian) but since I'm out on my own I've come a long way..I just worry about my history and I have horrible social and general anxiety and while I'm close with my family and boyfriend I have no friends out side the Internet.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
