I started with my seminar in January and my intake appointment in Late January. I made the decision to this in December. I had to do a 3 month supervised diet and then get a cardiology clearance (my cardiologist is über careful so I had a stress test, nuclear stress test and echo on top of the EKG the surgeon wanted. That's a good thing, but it added a month to my wait time. But now I have the date and time (I check in at 7:30 on the 15th and hit the OR at 9:30). I am sure the next two weeks will fly by! I have started dreaming about why I will look like and what I will do when I lose 85-90 pounds. :).

I have my first shake sitting by me. Since I don't have to do full liquids I am starting today instead of next week. Hopefully I will lose a few more pounds this way. :)

That's awesome! I check in at 8:00 and hit the OR at 10:00!! Not looking forward to recovery! But I know I'm doing this for a good reason! I can't wait to be about 110-120 pounds lighter!!

Definitely! I like knowing others will be with me in spirit the day of surgery.

In other news I went ahead and started my pre-op diet today. Oh my Lord, the headache! On the bright side I get to have grilled chicken and green Beans in a couple hours. Hopefully that will help.

My surgeon uses different pre-ops based on BMi. He said I could have 1 lean high Protein meal a day up until the day before. Then just Clear Liquids. :)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
