Trouble with the bariatric chewable vitamins

Recommended Posts

Every time I try to take my chewable vitamins I end up incredibly nauseous or throwing them back up. This has happened with two different brands. I'm ordering a liquid brand to try to see if that helps. Just wondering if anyone else has had any issues and what Vitamins have worked best for you?

Why not just get capsules? Bariatric Advantage makes capsules. I take four a day. (dosage is six, but that's for RNY patients, since I'm a sleeve patient I only need four)

I didn't even think about trying capsules. Do you take all four at one time or do you take two twice a day?

I separate them out.. and take throughout the day and they don't have Iron so I can take them with my Calcium. You don't HAVE to separate them out, but I do because I think you absorb more of the Vitamins that way.

I bought from Amazon.com I paid like $40.00 for 540 capsules.. which works out to around 10.00 a month.

I'm taking the Wellesse liquid Vitamins (Multivitamin' date=' Calcium, and iron) and I really like them.[/quote']

That is the brand I just ordered earlier today. Glad to hear you like them! I hope they will work for me. :)

Vitamins make me nauseous also, if I take them early in the morning after Breakfast. I puke them up, unless I take them at night. For some reason my stomach doesn't agree with them in the morning. Try taking them after dinner. I take the capsule kind from "Celebrate".

I also struggled with the bariatric chewable and liquid multi vitamin... Because I am stubborn and refused to buy spend money on another Vitamin, I take small bites of the chewable, breaking into about quarters, and eat it throughout the morning. That has helped tremendously! Good luck!

I got the Celebrate calcium citrate in cherry tart flavor and its absolutely delish! The pills are quarter-sized but you only have to chew 3 daily. Very yummy :)

I got the gummy vitamins, and it's a HUGE improvement! I know not all docs allow them, but mine is ok with them and boy, am I glad!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
