Energy levels 3 months after sleeve

Recommended Posts

My husband was sleeved 14 days ago. I'll be sleeved in 3 weeks.

Our question is will we have good energy levels after healing, say 3 months out.

We both have more than 100 lbs to lose.

Anyone have experience/info from 3 months out?

I am 3 months out and tired often. My primary care doctor told me to just focus on getting more sleep. It's not a huge issue, it's not ruining my life, but I've definitely noticed that I'm really tired. I've had all of my bloodwork checked and everything is normal.. I told my PCP, I'm already sleeping 7-8 hours a night.. and she told me that maybe I needed more.. try sleeping for 9 hours a night.. Seems to be helping.

I'm not that far out (13 days) but I can tell you that I noticed an increase in energy on Monday after taking my B12 nasal spray (nascobal) prescribed by my surgeon.

MrsPierre please tell me more about the B12 nasal spray. What is the name of it? Sorry for the hijack but I've never heard of it administered this way!

No input on energy levels as I am not sleeved yet but any surgery where they put you under us going to knock you around a but afterwards. I would think you should be fine by 3 mos.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
