My husband used dr. A Ortiz at OCC and we contacted them and had a surgery date options the next day, confirmed information and sent in deposit within 48 hours holding date, then 14 days later he was in TJ so he was able to get in pretty quick. All experiences were good and he is home doing very well!! He was sleeved a week ago yesterday.

My surgery is Monday 7/1 with Dr. Ortiz. So far the process has been very smooth. They have all been quick to respond to all my questions and needs. Lori is very friendly and helpful.

Hi There!!

I had my surgery with Dr. Ortiz on April 16th 2012 and I can honestly say it was the best decision I have EVER made!!! I am down 142 lbs and I feel amazing!! I am actually on his before and after section of his website and I have a featured youtube clip. I am an advocate as Dr. Ortiz has changed my life. He and his staff took such great care of me! I have posted several times about my experience so if you search under my posts you should find more info. One of his coordinators, Lori Wrights had her band to sleeve revision the same day as me.. She has turned out to be a great friend!! We call each other "sleeve sisters"!!! LOL

I have pictures posted of the facility and of my surgery day if you are interested in looking....

As always... I am here for support as well... So, if any of you have any questions or concerns please let me know.. I am glad to help!

Best of Luck!!!

Emily

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
