I know we shouldn't drink, but what is the best thing to drink should the occasion arise? I've had Skinny Girl Margarita & Wine....both still have alot of calories.

Very, very good stuff... Pay for quality not quantity! Fine Australian (of course) dry white wine is my preferred "lapse".

Vodka & cranberry w a twist of lime. ;0)

JJ. Still trying to figure that one out. Carbonated drinks of any type do not agree w me. So it has to be a light juice mixer or white wine. Even though I love red wine.

Vodka, whiskey, tequila....all of these have no carbs. Have them with some low sugar juice...or some flat diet soda. I would stay away from drinking them straight because it can be hard on your sleeve, as well as they will hit you a lot harder now then before surgery. I know the doctors usually say to stay away from them as they can slow down the weight loss, but if you do it occasionally it shouldn't hurt. Just be careful of the possible cross over addiction. It is easy for wls patients to become addicted to other substances after surgery. I know that I drink about once a week...and it hasn't stopped me from reaching my goal. Good luck! And have fun! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
