ladylaura 77 Posted June 25, 2013 I'm in my 3rd week post-op and just wondering how long the burping and such lasts? Everytime I swallow something I drink or eat, my throat gurgles and I burp. It's getting embarrassing Does it stop soon I hope? 1 Cheer Mama reacted to this
Tink22-sleeve 528 Posted June 25, 2013 Are you having acid reflux? I started taking prilosec at about 2-3 weeks and it really helped with the burping and gurgling. Also maybe give Gas-X strips a try? 1 Cheer Mama reacted to this
920amy 409 Posted June 25, 2013 I am almost 8 months out, and I still burp (quite loudly sometimes also) when I eat and drink, generally it is my 'full' signal. I'm not sure when it stops, it can be embarrassing! 2 ladylaura and Cheer Mama reacted to this
ladylaura 77 Posted June 26, 2013 I do, but I've been taking Prilosec and took 2 today lol The gurgling everytime I swallow is annoying and loud! My husband will look over at me when it happens and raise an eyebrow LOL 1 Cheer Mama reacted to this

Cheer Mama 166 Posted June 26, 2013 I was about to post on the same thing! I take a couple of drinks = BURP! Eat a couple of bites = BURP! take gasx = BURP! walk around = BURP! Geez, I really hope this will calm down before I gotta get up in front of a class again! 1 ladylaura reacted to this
judysbabies 16 Posted June 26, 2013 I am two weeks out and have not had burping. The stomach gurgling is a definite yes. I take prilosec as well. I think it is just your body adjusting. My biggest problem has been the Protein Shakes causing major stomach cramping. I guess each of our bodies react differently.

I'm going to try to put a banana or something in it too and see if it helps it. Anything at this point lol
vegasneon 181 Posted June 26, 2013 I dont really burp, sometimes I wish I could, but I have terrible gurgling sounds. It embarrasses me so much especially when I am around people that don't know I had surgery. The ones that do know I have explained to but they say they can't hear it but I think they are being nice. The ones that don't know haven't said anything. It's not just when I eat and drink its at any time. I take Prilosec and the chewable gas-x plus sometimes rantidine (acid reducer). It's ridiculous. Sometimes I feel like my whole esophagus & stomach is a big open pipe with bubbles running up and down and sideways. 1 ladylaura reacted to this
