thanks guys!....there really isn't any more details, I will tell you this, the doc that banded me has done hundreds!!...I was his #10 5yrs ago, he did tell me that this has happened 1 other time!....so, its rare but can happen!....it was the worse pain I have ever had in my life!....every breath, every step I took I felt as though I just wanted to die!!!...I could not get away from the pain!!...I do have blue cross/blue shield ins, they are paying for it, however, I have a 300 dollar deductable and owe 10% of the bill!....which I can deal with....but why?,,,,I feel the maker of the band should be held liable?....do you?......maybe, I'm over reacting?..:)

bandstergal!

NO way are you over reacting...if it were a piece of technology you would be taking it back for a refund...why not a lapband...Especially since it put your life in danger...hold the big guys responsible I say... go for it. and welcome to LBT by the way...I look forward to hearing of more of your progress in this matter.

Oh my gosh!!!!! I don't even know what to say. I am just doing research on having this done and I don't know if it is worth the money and now YOU have to pay $17.000.00 I don't have that kind of money. I want this so bad. I don't know who to believe. I hear it is practically painless then I read people feel awful for a long time. Help I just don't know!!!!

Have you contacted the manufacturer? Maybe your doctors office could give you that information and you could persue it yourself before you get a lawyer involved. Lets face it, a lawyer is going to cost you money before he will do anything.

There are also consumer guides and protection agencies that may help you. I'd definitly persue it; what have you got to lose? :scared2:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
