Heh......never thought I would start a thread using that term! I know it's common, I haven't had a =movement= in three days. I started taking Metamucil, I've even taken a laxative and nothing is a happening!

What items have you guys tried with success to keep things moving regular?

I still take 2 Senna S in the morning and 2 at night. Also...drink LOTS of water! Helps keep things moving. I am supposed to start using Mirilax instead of the Senna S, but I want to be home when I start using it, just in case it works well. Hopefully this weekend or next I will add the Mirilax to my regimen and start weaning myself off of the Senna S. That's the plan anyways... :)

I take a stool softener three times a day and it has been working. I usually take it after my meal.

Miralax - or the Walmart equivalent - every day. I saw someone else posted about Smooth Move tea and I'm going to ask my dietician about it. I used that before and it worked well too.

Cherries worked like a charm the other day. Best relief I've had yet!

MoM works a little but can't stand the taste. Stool softener are meh. Gummy Fiber chews help but can cause rebound Constipation when you stop them. That's no fun either.

I use 1 cup of Smooth Move Decaf tea every third day if I haven't gone. Works within 12 hours and is pretty gentle.

I use the same thing! It doesn't taste that great but I've used it for years so it doesn't bother me but to someone new I would suggest adding a little honey to it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
