I am asking not for myself but for a friend with MS. She is supposed to be getting sleeved has the date set and now her neurologist doesn't think its a good idea for a few months. Just wondering if anyone can give us some insight on this situation. Share your experience.

I'm curious about who answers this too. Last week, while on vacation in CA (I'm from Or), I landed in the hospital. Come to find out from the neurologist, I have what MAY be multiple sclerosis on my mri. I have to follow up with a neuro at home for a spinal tap to make sure. I'm due to get my sleeve on July 16th. I've "heard" from another discussion board that ms doesn't prevent anyone from getting wls. Especially since the weighloss can lower the symptoms in ms.

No clue what the insight is to this, but I'm also eager to know. Needless to say, I'm a little freaked out now. Trying not to worry, but still am.

I am 4 months post op and have been living with MS for 10 years this November. I was lucky because my neurologist was 150% on board with the surgery. Having MS and all the other health risks with being obese was enough to get his blessing.

Also there was the much added benefit of added mobility. Something that people with ms struggle with already.

I have not had any real issues since surgery. But my one warming is make sure you don't skip on Vitamins, especially B12. Vitamin deficiency can really mess with MS.

If you have questions, please feel free to pm me and I will answer to the very best of my ability.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
