Oh I just love NH, when i was a kid we went to North Conway every other weekend.it was awsome! I miss going to Attitash on the mountain coaster, and swimming in the kanamangous (sp) highway river thing. Freezing cold Water. Going to water country, riding the cog railway up mt. washington.

Hey Kerry,

I was from NH but moved just over the the border to MA. (Wish I still was there). I am still going threw the process of getting banded and waiting for insurance approval. I live on the NH border and was looking into having it done in NH, but my insurance will only cover in MA. Where in NH are you going for the seminar? I called Portsmouth. They seemed like the biggest center in the area. Good luck with everything and keep in touch. I hope to be banded by March. It seems like everything takes a while when insurance is involved.

Heh Wendy,

Im actually in Nashua and grew up in Tyngsboro. Wouldnt that be funny if we knew each other. My primary DR is in NH but they are sending me to the Lahey Clinic in Burlington. They have meetings the 2nd Monday of every month at 4:30. I got their phone number on line and called and registered in about 3 seconds. Let me know how it goes for you.

Oh yes, I know them very well. I grew up in Connecticut but went to NH every year when we were kids for vacation. Then we moved to NH, on the MA border, but now we just hang out at Lake Winnepausaukee. Guess you gotta grow up sometime, damn.....We still go to Clarks Trading Post once a year though.

I am psyched to start the process and went to a seminar a few months ago and was in total denial. I said, "I dont need this, I can do it on my own." Unfortuantly, I have done nothing but think about it over and over and finally I decided that with all my past failures with WW and whatever crash diet I was on, I think I will be very sucessfull and looking for more of a long term life style change. My family is grown and my daughter is leaving for college and it is all about me for a change. Its nice to hear of your fond memories in NH.

Hi, Kerry....and welcome.

I'm from NH, the Manchester area, and had my band done in September w/ the Portsmouth Regional Hospital/Atlantic Surgical group. I had Dr.Gens and he's the best. The program is great and I would highly recommend it. If you have to do MA though, Lahey has a wonderful reputatation. I didn't know they were doing the band. Have they been doing it long?

You sound as if you want to start the next phase of your life. Good for you! There is a lot of support on this site and a wealth of information.

Best wishes and enjoy the journey.

I was originally going to Lahey in Burlington but double checked with my insurance company as to whether I could have the surgery there. They said it would be denied in MA but approved in NH as my insurance is out of NH, Anthem BC/BS. I have my first seminar next Friday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
