What is it that you hate the most about being sleeved.

Recommended Posts

Or people taking behind your back because you decided to change. I don't know if I should tell them truth about being sleeved or let them talk all they want. The sucky part is I paid my surgery. I told one of " my best friend" and now everyone is saying I should have money. I have a long story to say ... But my husband passed away a year ago. And left me in his life insurance and since then all his family has hate me. I just wish he was alive to avoid all this drama n heartache. I'm doing this for me and no-one else.

I am sorry for your loss! My fiance' passed away last year also and I've had to deal with many people watching and judging my every move also. I decided to get sleeved for myself and there is nothing easy about this journey. Some of my friends think my decision was crazy, but they have not walked a mile in my shoes! Most people who judge and gossip do so the pacify their own insecurities.

My only dislike so far, is that I don't feel like I can quinch my thirst anymore.

I'm do to have surgery on 7/22/13 and I have to be honest my biggest fear is being constipated. But overall from what I've read I have nothing to worry about' date=' it has been a positive decision to have the surgery.

Thank you for the information.[/quote']

This is the worst for me....I used to go 2-3 times a day which was normal for me now I'm lucky if I go every other day. I also hate that I'm so freaking thirsty but I can't drink more than what im able.

Yep... Constipation it is. Milk of Magnesia has helped me out of a few "jams" LOL!

Mine personally is being dehydrated. I love Water. So my goal is having to pee clear. But it's not impossible. I have 5 days out of surgery and I hate seeing orange when I go use the ladies room. Ooo and being constipated too. :-\:-[

For two months, I watched the color of the water in the potty!!! LoL You sound just like me. I had a hard time getting in enough liquids. At my three month check up, I told the nurse there was no way I could ever accomplish it and she said, JUST DRINK LIQUIDS and make sure they aren't sugary!!! Yay, my life changed at that point. I drank water AND coffee AND iced tea. I've been fine ever since!!! Other than this, there is NOTHING I dislike about the sleeve. Wish I'd had heard of it ten years earlier!

Amazingly enough, all my THIN friends were thrilled, were great cheerleaders, but heavier family members and friends, they are the ones that I KNOW are judgmental and are waiting for me to fail. I really don't care, each one I'm thinking of, has insurance or money to haul their fat @sses in and do the same thing. I have NO idea why they don't.

I literally laughed out loud, NtvTxn. Thank you! I recently had a fallout with a judgmental fat a$$. Each & every one of us know how long it takes to get your surgery date, right? Well this person was overheard by my 15 year old son saying "I don't know why she had to schedule her FAT SURGERY the same week as our tournament. All board members (little league softball) are required to be here to help!" Considering I was running fever & coughing from almost pneumonia at the time she's lucky I sent my husband & son to help. She unfriended me on Facebook after I got through with her. Good riddance!

Well I'm 7 days post op and I think today my body is finally letting me know that it wants food. I'm not hungry and don't have the desire to eat... I just finished cooking dinner for my family but today I think was the first time I felt ugh due to my sleeve. I don't feel sick I think it's more weak than anything. I LOVE my decision and do not regret doing it. :)

I also don't feel like my thirst is ever quenched! I miss my Diet Pepsi! It has almost been 10

Weeks since my last one and I am very proud of that! As far as judgement I say to hell with the haters!

I don't hate anything about my sleeve. It took a while to fully feel this way, but I am getting to the point where I can say I LOVE it. One side effect I don't love is the hair loss...I could have done without that. Even if I had known the extent of it (I deluded myself into thinking it might be minor because I was so compliant with diet and vitamins), I would still have done it.

I have not had my surgery yet, but I read several other responses about jealousy and ect. So I decided not to tell anyone! My husband and mom that is it! :)

I refused to tell my coworkers because I don't feel like its their business but I had to tell my boss. Whenever my coworkers ask me what I'm doing' date=' I tell them my nutritionist put me on a diet. My family knows and that's about it. I like to keep my business to myself.[/quote']

I love my boss but I not telling him. I went directly to HR in order to bypass our admin who has a big mouth. I know the HIPPA laws say I don't have to tell. Now if I'm asked, I may tell not sure just yet.

I agree. I only told 4 people - my husband' date=' my parents, and my trainer. No one else needs to know. I don't necessarily feel like I need to hide it, but I have NO interest in the judgment of others. People at my work are whispering, but only one person has actually come out & said anything. She didn't even ask, just said "I hope you know you're just going to gain it all back."

I just smiled - what do I care what she thinks? I'll be laughing on my way to a healthy weight!![/quote']

Right!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
