What is it that you hate the most about being sleeved.

Recommended Posts

Mine personally is being dehydrated. I love Water. So my goal is having to pee clear. But it's not impossible. I have 5 days out of surgery and I hate seeing orange when I go use the ladies room. Ooo and being constipated too. :-\:-[

The one thing that I dont like, although it is probably what normal people do, is having to think about everything that I eat and making it count. Although I am hard pressed to find anything that I dont like about my sleeve. I would do it again in a heartbeat!!!!!!

I dont hate anything. Even the Hair loss is something I don't take negatively. The sleeve has been my lifeline to such a better life. So I just don't dwell on my hair.

I'm very fortunate and have not had any issues what so ever.

Or people taking behind your back because you decided to change. I don't know if I should tell them truth about being sleeved or let them talk all they want. The sucky part is I paid my surgery. I told one of " my best friend" and now everyone is saying I should have money. I have a long story to say ... But my husband passed away a year ago. And left me in his life insurance and since then all his family has hate me. I just wish he was alive to avoid all this drama n heartache. I'm doing this for me and no-one else.

I'm do to have surgery on 7/22/13 and I have to be honest my biggest fear is being constipated. But overall from what I've read I have nothing to worry about, it has been a positive decision to have the surgery.

Thank you for the information.

I love everything! But I do agree I'm not a fan on the judgement from others.

The judgement IS the worst. @vane86. I'm so sorry for your loss & your husband's family's reaction. This is a hard enough personal struggle without having to add hateful inlaws, coworkers, neighbors or people you thought were your friends. I couldn't imagine doing this without my husband. He's been a gem! He told me I was always gorgeous, I'm just showing off now. LOL. I LOVE that man!

Yes I wish he was alive to support me. But thank God my parents are the ones helping me. Through it all they are the only ones who stay true.

Vane86, I am so sorry for your loss of your husband. It seems to me that it would be natural for your husband to leave you everything. You are his wife.

Good for you for doing something to take care of your health! I wish you the best!!

The only thing I dislike is the random questions I get from people I didn't tell. I told a couple friends & it spread like wildfire. Very disappointing.

I also hate the judgement. It isn't the easy way out-

Same thing happened to me. I teach at a small school and told one other teacher (who I found out has a big mouth) and I had to tell my principal due to the time off I took and now I think everyone there knows. Oh well, I guess it saves me having to answer so many questions when I return in August and hopefully look a lot different!

I refused to tell my coworkers because I don't feel like its their business but I had to tell my boss. Whenever my coworkers ask me what I'm doing, I tell them my nutritionist put me on a diet. My family knows and that's about it. I like to keep my business to myself.

I agree. I only told 4 people - my husband, my parents, and my trainer. No one else needs to know. I don't necessarily feel like I need to hide it, but I have NO interest in the judgment of others. People at my work are whispering, but only one person has actually come out & said anything. She didn't even ask, just said "I hope you know you're just going to gain it all back."

I just smiled - what do I care what she thinks? I'll be laughing on my way to a healthy weight!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
