For me personally, when first coming out of surgery, smaller gel encapsulated pills were pretty easy for me to get down. By 3 months post op, I was able to swallow any sized pill. Now I take even the huge fish oil pills with no problem. I know it varies from person to person, because many people are over 1 year post op and still have a hard time swallowing pills. I got easier for me however, the more i tried to get them down. Hope this helps!

I was told not to take any pills for a while after surgery so I didnt try but now I can take a handful of Vitamins and other meds with no problem at all. Good luck!

I am just into my 1week of recovery and I had on hand large Vitamins I couldn't deal with so I went out and bought Centrum chewables for adults (not gummies) and they seem to work better for now.

I'm just starting my 3rd week post-op and I can swallow the tiny pills. The bigger ones I cut into a size where I can swallow them. I tried crushing them and it was just NASTY LOL, so I had to make it so I could swallow them. I order the specialty bariatric supplements online, so they are all chewable...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
