I think you will be fine. I just saw my PCP yesterday and she said it's a breeze. You might just feel a little sore throat from the tube afterwards. I have to do an endoscopy/colonoscopy on 7/11. The only thing I think will suck about that is the "colon flush" the night before and drinking 8 glasses of the crap you have to drink.

Yuck!

Let us know how it goes.

Hope it all went well, I'm sure you'll do fine! Had my upper & lower GI done last week.....other than the prep for colonoscopy, everything was easy peasy....lucky you not having to have a colonoscopy!!!!!

Yeah, PattyGee! Wish I didn't have to go through that one, but I'm over 50 so I needed to do it anyway! Getting endoscopy and colonoscopy at the same time on 7/11.

Boo hiss!!

I'm having an endoscopy/colonoscopy tomorrow and I have to start the "flush" in a couple hours. Good luck to both of us, I guess. Lol. :-)

You'll do fine.......FYI the results from the colonoscopy put me at a higher risk for colon cancer.....now have to be tested every 5 years...My aunt died from colon cancer recently......I'll take the discomfort for 2 days if it'll save me from what she went through....I just don't have to like it LOL Good luck!

I'm sorry about your Aunt! Finding out that you are at a higher risk now is good, because you can be one step ahead by getting regular screenings as recommended by your doctor.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
