Endoscopy Friday and so nervous!

Recommended Posts

I am now one month into my 3 month required (by insurance) program. Last week, I had a ton of blood drawn, two ultrasounds, and an at home sleep study. This Friday, I have the endoscopy. I am super nervous about the endoscopy. After much thought, I think it's not the procedure itself but the concern that they will find something that might jeopardize having surgery. I actually feel this way about all the tests, but especially the EGD.

Has anyone else felt this way? I know they are trying to make sure everything will go well with the surgery. I just really don't want to have anything else wrong with me! I feel like I'm already on too many medications. I know it's dumb, but I guess ignorance is bliss!

I've had an endoscopy and it is not a big deal at all. They give you a sedative and you go to sleep. You wake up and it's all done, and you won't even be groggy because it's not a full anesthetic.

Had the EGD and it was a piece of cake. My sister went with me for moral support and helped keep me calm.

I had to have mine done about 2 years ago before gallbladder surgery. I did not have someone there that day to drive me home so they just sprayed some numbing medication on the back of my throat and I got to watch the procedure done since they didn't knock me out.

It's real simple. They just feed the camera tube down your throat, through your esophagus and you can feel a small jolt when it goes through the valve into your stomach. My doctor had to take a biopsy of some small red dots on my stomach and it just felt like someone was pinching you when he did. The hardest part was when they pulled the tube out and I was trying not to gag as it was coming up.

According to my doctor, most people will probably have some type of small hernia right before the stomach valve -- I had one, my surgeon repaired it during my VSG -- and many people have some small spots on their stomach that they test just to see if you have the bacteria that causes ulcers. All my tests came back okay.

I was a little sore the next day in my shoulder area from dry heaving when they pulled the tube out and had a slight sore throat but other than that, it was an easy procedure to do.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
