Enspira - any suggestions as to which flavor and what it taste like? My pre-op paperwork says I have to buy the pre-op package from the OCC store and drink the shakes 3x p/d for 14 days. Any suggestions from other OCC sleevers?

I didn't use enspira. During pre-op I liked Premier Protein. Post-op, I use Isopure and premier.

I used the Enspira and it was wonderful. They have recently changed the formula and its NASTY!!! GROSS!!! They also cut in half the Protein and tripled the carbs for some reason. I have been meaning to email Dr Miranda and ask why. The nutritional value on the website doesn't match what is on the new can.

I know of another Ortiz patient that did Atkins for awhile before her surgery. You might shoot Dr. Miranda an email and ask her. She is the nutritionist.

I was given the choice to go Phase 1 Atkins to lose my pre-surgery weight by Dr. Miranda. I was happy because I had done the whole "low carb" deal before and was comfortable with the plan and knew that I could lose the weight that I needed before surgery and not feel deprived.

As the previous poster stated... Just ask Dr. Miranda... She will give you your options..

Good Luck!

Emily

If Phase 1 Atkins is accepted I could handle that! Since July 1st I've been having a high Protein Shake for Breakfast and lunch, Greek yogurt, a handful of almonds, or turkey Jerky for snack, and then lean meat ( usually grilled chicken) with veggies for dinner. I lost 6 lbs the first week! The scales haven't moved yet this week but I haven't given up like I usually do. I think I just need to purchase Protein Shakes with less fat grams. I planned to do this "diet" until my official pre op diet. I guess I need to talk to Dr. Miranda!

Dr Miranda is awesome! She's so helpful and kind and don't hesitate to contact her after the surgery with questions or concerns either. I have a few times and she gets back to you pretty quickly.

Dr Miranda is no longer there. Lucia is the new nutritionist at OCC. She was nice, she said she responds to emails in the evenings.

I just got operation on friday and doing very well. Everybody was very friendly and i have no problems. Had my first cup of Soup today and I am taking liquid vitamins that i add to water. In Pre-Op I used the enspira with non fat milk. And also the Lindora shakes that are pre-made. They are only 100 Cal and I found the taste good. Rite Aid sells them.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
