Hi everybody, I'm Carole and I live in Crowley, Tx. I'm not banded yet but

have my first consultation with my doctor on the 4th. I'm a self pay so

he thinks he can "squeeze" me right in.

I've been lurking here a bit and am thrilled so see so many bandsters

from my neck of the woods. I'll be using Dr. Marsden. Has anybody heard

of, or used him? I'm hoping I can get this done before the end of

January. There 's a Pirates Ball I'm going to in April and I'd love to

shed some weight by then.. Aargh!!

Well, I just wanted to say hi and Happy New Year!

Carole

Welcome Carole!! Congratulations on your decision. I'm in Ferris, TX and just got banded yesterday!! I stayed overnight in the hospital, came home today and feel ok except for some muscle soreness. I think you will be happy you made the decision to be banded. I am. My procedure was uncomplicated, except he found a hiatal hernia during surgery, but fixed it while he was there. You will be fine, and again, WELCOME!!!

Hi Carole: I'm Rainy Laker and was banded 12-26. Was in the hospital for 1 1/2 days. Now 4th day out and I am feeling pretty good, compared to the first few days. I'm hoping to lose 75 - 100 lbs. I have a friend that was banded in May 06 and has lost 96 lbs. Hope to follow in her footsteps. Good luck on your journey to a new you.

 Hi, I was banded by Dr. Marsden on November 17th. He is the greatest. I have alot to loose. When I first saw Dr. Marsden I weighed 481, but when I came back for my surgery I weighed 431 - I had lost 50lbs. He told me not to tell many people because you usually don't loose that much weight, but I was estatic.!!

I went for my first fill on December 28th. I don't feel that much different. The first month after surgery I only lost 5 lbs and I gained and lost it over and over again. Dr. Marsden said he expected that. I felt that I could eat anything and sometimes I did. But it was on the day I didn't drink the Protein Drink. The drink reallly does keep you honest.

I also found a better and cheaper drink than they sell at the dr. office. Its called whey Protein drink and it only costs $12.95 at Walmart. Tastes better than the one they sell also. It has more protein and less sugar. If there is anything else I can help you with, give me a shout. Wishing you good luck and a Happy New Year!

Carole - from Hurst:rolleyes:

Hi & welcome,

I'm almost 5 months out and this place is great. Be sure and check out the journals. They're great for really getting the "scoop" on the whole process.

Thanks everybody! I've really enjoyed this forum. Three days until my visit with the doc! I'm getting very nervous that I'm going to do this and it won't work.:phanvan

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
