Hi, I've been wondering about the lower stomach and what I can expect with weight loss. What's been your experience? Does it hang or tighten up?

Everyone will be different. It depends on age, amt of weight loss and your skin elasticity.

Well, I'm 41 years old and have been fat since birth. I've had a large lower stomach since I can remember and I've had a pannus from age 11. I've lost 100 pounds and I'm half way through my journey.. My lower stomach is hanging as low as before but it's just more deflated now. and it's coming up in the center.. so now it basically looks like two flat boobs.. SOOOO ATTRACTIVE! But I guess the good news is it's not hanging LOWER than before!

My ARMS are a different story.. They used to be fat, but at least they were cylindrical... now I've got bingo wings! GRRRRRRRR. Honestly, I'd rather have the fatter arms but we can't pick and choose.. Guess I'll be getting those babies chopped off when I go for plastics on my tummy!

I am having the same problem... My stomach is where I carried most my weight and now in the center it's like the great divide, lol. Not losing as much there as I would like but losing none the less. 97 pounds since surgery in September and 117 since highest.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
