Hi... I'm 2 months out at 46 pound down... I just recently saw turkey Jerky in the store ... The nutrition seems pretty good .. In 1

Oz there is 13 grams of Protein and less then a gram of fat. I've tolerated any food I've tried.. And just curious is this is a good snack or

Not

Thanks

I think it is a good snack but the bad things is it is high in sodium.

I often eat Jerky for a snack. Not sure how well you will tolerate it at only 2 months out. The thing with it is that it's so dry and you have to chew it a TON to integrate enough saliva for it to go down, then hope your tummy doesn't mind it. Lol. Good luck trying it out!

Sounds like a good snack to me...remember though that you are eating a snack not a meal...so enjoy a little and don't stress it.......if it has a lot of sodium...be careful k.....

Your doing wonderful.....all the best to you!

I bought a dehydrator and have made my own Jerky at home. Turns out pretty good--and you get to control what seasonings you put on it. (Got my dehydrator at Wal-Mart for about $45--takes a while to dehydrate meat--about 4-6 hrs)

My NUT recommends it and they sell Ostrich jerky at Surgeons office w/20g's of Protein. It tastes Identical to beef. I agree w/other commenters, has material sodium and not sure when your sleeve will accept it. I'm still on soft so haven't tried yet.

Love love love turkey jerky! My favorite snack. I have to hide it from my 14 year old son!

I was never a fan of beef Jerky. Tasted weird and artificial. Then my son begged for a bag while we were at a trade show, and I tried it after our picky younger son said it was good. It's Stan's beef jerky, and you can order it online. The fajita flavor is outstanding!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
