Recommended Posts

Anyone have any songs they love to groove to while working out?

Me:

Survivor - Eye of the Tiger

Irene Cara - theme song from Flashdance

The entire soundtrack to "Twister" (the tornado movie) is excellent for alleviating treadmill boredom!! :)

I love "These boots are made for walking". Makes me feel a little like Jessica Simpson or Nancy Sinatra on the treadmill. I have it downloaded on my Ipod, and when I'm just about to give up on the Elliptical or treadmill, but still need another 5 minutes, I put that song on and it keeps me going.

Oh a REALLY good one is "Girl From The Gutter" remix by Kina! It is great...it makes you mad and motivated at the same time. It's about being hurt by a old boyfriend.

God is a Girl (Groove Coverage) kinda transe-y, huge disco beat - really 'pumps you up' -

In genreal I listen to completely different music when I workout. Different from what I'd normally listen to. My list includes "high energy" bands/songs including Utah Saints, RATM, Prodigy, etc.

*Edited to add...

And lately I've been using music that DH has written/created. And music, from friends of his. He's part of the European synth wave. Not really my taste, but fantastic to workout to.

Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy--Big & Rich

Mony, Mony--Billy Idol

Let's Get it Started--Black Eyed Peas

Get on Your Feet--Gloria Estefan

C'est la Vie--Chuck berry

Wanna Talk About Me--Toby Keith

Hold Your Head Up--Argent

Baby Got Back--Sir Mixalot

These all get me up and moving. I made a CD that runs exactly 30 minutes. When it ends, I know I've gotten my session accomplished.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
