Roller Coaster question!

Recommended Posts

I have a question for all you post-op people! I love, love, LOVE roller coasters! I'm wondering if after surgery I'll have nausea on the rides that "tickle" my tummy, or what it's going to feel like when you go down the steepest drop that usually makes my stomach "drop"? There is nothing better than throwing your arms up and letting gravity pull your butt off the seat on the big drops! I'd be so sad if rides felt different! Have any of you post-op people been on roller coasters since your surgery?

I've been wanting to ask this same question! Also, how long after surgery should we wait before we try to ride a roller coaster?

Just make sure your incisions are healed. You won't feel happy banging a sore stomach up on rides all day.

I went to Disney 6 weeks afterwards and ride everything no problems :)

I'm in Texas.... I'm real worried about getting in enough Water at Six Flags. I usually drink tons because it's so hot here. At six weeks can you drink a bunch?

At that stage getting your 64oz is like a full time job. You just keep a bottle in your hand all day and drink.. I had a bottle of Water (still do) everywhere I went.

It's refreshing and easier in extreme heat to have ice all day. TX is really really hot.

I like the "not really" part why did you edit it :P

I mean what do I know, I live in Northern California where it's perfect all the time :D

Yeah, I mean however you can get at least 64oz..

Ice is a great idea! Texas in the summer feels like the devil opened up hell and let all the heat out! Lol....

I would ask your surgeon about how long you should wait to ride, but I would think at least until your staple line is healed--about the time that you would be approved for more strenuous organized exercise classes and/or strength training (probably somewhere between 8 and 12 weeks post-op...unless you are an overachiever like Laura :)). YSMV (Your Surgeon May Vary).

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
