Wheetsin 714 Posted January 12, 2007 When I first joined here I talked to some people about building an offshoot message board tht could be linked to. Only instead of "general" and "lounge", it would be "size 26", "size 20", etc. And instead of conversational posts, someone would post the clothing they had with pics, and instead of conversational replies, people could reply asking questions about the clothes or wanting to call dibs. All business happened between the poster and replyer, they just had a consolidated place to do it. Would you guys be interested in something like that? And I know at once point Alex had posted that he was considering adding a clothing swap as a board enhancement, but I don't know what happened to that idea. I can try and follow-up. That would be great Wheetsin! I have recently cleared the closet and have all kinds of stuff, but would like to swap things in an organized way. Thanks, Jo Ann

Anything i felt i could part with went to good will.. and all the expensive lane bryant stuff (like 95 dollar jeans) are stored in bags according to size. lol. I duno if anyone else feels this way, but when i go shopping for clothes.. i feel like i cant spend much money on things anymore, cuz i wont get to wear them long.. i feel guilty for buying clothes now! barbara465 2 Posted January 12, 2007 I think a clothing swap would be great as a separate place to post. Look into it for us Wheetsin if you can. I have size 24, 3X for the asking. There is sportswear, business casual, tops, and evening wear. Anyone interested can PM me.

I duno if anyone else feels this way, but when i go shopping for clothes.. i feel like i cant spend much money on things anymore, cuz i wont get to wear them long.. i feel guilty for buying clothes now! I could have written that post. We literally rented a storage unit to hold my clothes in until we can get them bagged up. (We were eager to paint the extra bedrooms, closets included, and this was our answer b/c there was NO way we would have been able to get in there with all the racks and racks and totes and ziplox XXLs full of clothing). I *shouldn't* spend a lot of money on new clothes, and at times I stick to my resolution. But sometimes I can't help it. Which pisses me off, because I keep buying $100 slacks for work that I can wear 4 or 5 times. I'm going to a seamstress next week to see if she can take them in, or if they're just too big to do anything with. In the last onths or two I've stopped myself from buying stuff unless it's on sale or at cheaper stores. That has helped. I've also started buying things a size too small, like jeans. At 50 - 90 a pop, they add up. So I've been buying a size smaller than I need, and I've been able to wear them longer. I've done that with a few jackets, too. Just wear them unbuttoned for a few weeks, and then instead of getting rid of them I have another round of wearing them buttoned. I'm not a terribly impulsive person, unless it comes to spending money. And my two weaknesses are clothes and interior decorating.
sherilynn 1 Posted January 12, 2007 I too am guilty of writing the 'organizational' posts. I have also solicited for some ideas on how best to organize. This could really work!
sherilynn 1 Posted January 12, 2007 I've made a deal with myself; unless it's under $10 on clearance - I don't buy it! Simple as that. You may not think that $10 goes a long way...but with Lord & Taylor, Macys, coupons, Marshalls, TJ Maxx...you'd be VERY surprised at all the designer duds I've been buying in smaller sizes. Not sure WHEN I can wear them, but I know I will. After an ever so wise woman on here advised me; STOP buying shoes, as they'll get too big as well.
