thenewme13 39 Posted June 24, 2013 Yes they asked me to write down how long have I've been over weight and what have I done to lose weight. I did from Atkins to the onion Soup to HCG DROPS. But yes start on a weight watchers for 6 months which insurance do you have?
jaxmommy2012 21 Posted June 24, 2013 I have blue cross through my husbands labor union. and I have tried everything but don't have documented dr notes or anything. I went so long without having health insurance I wasn't able to see a weight loss dr in the past. and I see that some women have a start to sleeve process of like 6 months, does this mean ill probably take much much longer? thenewme13 39 Posted June 24, 2013 I have Cigna and they fid not ask for prove my BMi Alone did it for me as im morbidly obese according to standards Not sure how Blue works but I would call them and obtain what their requirements are. I fid that and then asked for a doctor referral

thenewme13 39 Posted June 24, 2013 Supervised means a place that can accredit that you were trying to lose weight. Like weight watchers they keep s profile on you, the gym with a personal trainer , doctors office that can monitor your weight lose.
jaxmommy2012 21 Posted June 24, 2013 oh ok so i can go to ww? that's part of what i was trying to figure out. bc thatd be a lot cheaper for me than a dr.
thenewme13 39 Posted June 24, 2013 Yes my advice is this Call you insurance and tell them you have started to go to weight watchers what do they need from them to prove you are going. The examiner should give you all the information required
Macy6 356 Posted June 24, 2013 And if you are going to a seminar they wil more than likely help you. My first step, after my referral from my physician, was the seminar. I met my patient navigator who did all the work for me. She called my insurance, found out what I needed and what they were looking for, I met my surgeon about a week later and walked away with a list of things to do and before I left his office my patient navigator had scheduled me for half of them. Ive had to be proactive enough to make sure I do what is expected of me, but I have always been able to fall back on my patient navigator when I get lost. jaxmommy2012 21 Posted June 24, 2013 and the navigator u met thru the seminar? bc that's EXACTLY what i need, just someone to point me in the right direction. i don't want to end up spending hundreds of dollars on dr visits to find out they weren't necessary. lol
Macy6 356 Posted June 24, 2013 Yes. My navigator was there and I email her a couple times a month, and see her at the support group every month and she is active in our FB Group. It's pretty nice.
SamG 25 Posted June 24, 2013 if they told me I need 6 ,mths how do I do that? can I do weight watchers or do I have to go to a weight loss dr? my bmi is 41 right now. no diabetes or anything If I were you I'd go see a nutritionist for six months only because it seems like your insurance is going to give you a hard time about this. I have Kaiser and they require six months of supervised weight loss with a nutritionist and to me its the best way to get a accurate/official log. Just a suggestion, but good luck!
