Olivia23 68 Posted June 24, 2013 I know they use your card to put a hold in case something happens to the room but they supposedly took it off when I checked out. Now on my bank statement they have a charge of 78.05 on there. Wtf!!! How do I get my money back? I didn't purchase anything while staying there.
westcoastlady 39 Posted June 24, 2013 My guess its just a pre auth. All hotels, car rental etc do it. Usually takes 24 to 72 hours to get it off. Contact your bank that issued the card. They can advise you if its an actual charge or pre-authorization. Im betting on the pre auth
guate_mama05 64 Posted June 24, 2013 I have a charge of $117.00 that has been pending since I left on June 13th! I guess I am doing to have to call my credit card company and take care of this.
Athinnerme 26 Posted June 24, 2013 Are you guys saying that, this fee isn't included in the overall price. Would the coordinators take care of this? Why would anybody have to even give their credit card information?
Olivia23 68 Posted June 24, 2013 One of the coordinators did send me an email before I left saying that it's the hotel policy to put down a credit card because the rooms are non smoking and they want to make sure you don't smoke in the rooms or damage the room in anyway. They said it was just a temporary hold though. I sure hope it is but I thought the amount was 100.00. I don't know what the 78.05 is for, but it does say pre auth on it. thetattooedlady 114 Posted June 24, 2013 You didn't eat a bag of nuts out of the mini bar did you?!? Those run about 80 bucks a bag...
Olivia23 68 Posted June 24, 2013 The only thing I ate was the broth. I did order Water with it because I didn't realize at the time that they had water in there already. I only drank two bottles of water though and left the third one there. You get two free bottles of water per day.
whodatgirl 58 Posted June 24, 2013 They authorized 1000 pesos (around $78.00) when I checked in before surgery and again when I checked in after surgery, but both authorizations have fallen off. 1 Shrinking_Lola reacted to this
Olivia23 68 Posted June 24, 2013 How long did it take for it to come off? I do remember it saying 1,000.
SerendipityHappens 1,594 Posted June 24, 2013 Are you guys saying that, this fee isn't included in the overall price. Would the coordinators take care of this? Why would anybody have to even give their credit card information? yes it's included.. As for WHY anybody would have to give their credit card information.. it's pretty standard to do that even when the actual room charge is already covered. The booking angency covers the room fee... but because YOU are actually staying in the room, you have to give your credit card as security to cover charges if there is theft/damage to the room. Also, for everyone who is stating that they were charged, have you called the Marriott about it and asked? 2 Shrinking_Lola and westcoastlady reacted to this

The plot thickens. If your bottled water came from room service ... you WILL get charged for the water. If your two bottles per day were dropped off by housekeeping... it is No charge. If you consume your two bottles in the resteraunt... there is a charge. the letter states: 2 bottles of water in your room per nite Hope that helps clear up a bit of the mystery. Ive been at the Marriot other times. I know of this policy personally. KHy 3 Melixxa, Shrinking_Lola and getlownurse reacted to this
whodatgirl 58 Posted June 25, 2013 How long did it take for it to come off? I do remember it saying 1,000. I don't know exactly — 10 days or so. I think it just depends on the bank or credit card company. It was just like a hotel authorization in the States. Don't worry about it. I'm sure it will come off soon. Olivia23 68 Posted June 25, 2013 Water was dropped off by housekeeping. I called my bank today and said they cannot do anything until the Marriott drops it off on their end. I tried to call the Marriott and my phone will not allow me to make international calls. I don't know what else to do.
westcoastlady 39 Posted June 25, 2013 Great... so we know there will be no charge for the water! And your bank / credit card company is correct in stating that the Marriott needs to drop the charge. Hate to say it but its a waiting game I guess. Can you email them? And your cc company should be able to verify it is a charge or a hold. Being a vender at one time of my life I use to put holds on customers cards all the time. If its a charge... then you need to take action Good Luck
Olivia23 68 Posted June 25, 2013 Their said it was a hold.
