emotional

Recommended Posts

Did anyone else become emotional on their 3-4 day? I am not like that at all. I am excited about the band but omg I was crying at everything. I am better now, but that was scary for me. I hope I don't have anymore issues like that again.

yes, I did because I was mourning my food! It is completely normal to experience all of these feelings after sugery. It's a head journey as well as a weightloss journey!

jme62, I was exactly like you before the surgery. Thinking all about how I got to this place, what if I don't succeed, already missing food, etc. That is normal. Best of luck to you with your surgery.

OMYGOSH I remember day 5- It was my first day I could move to full liquids (instead of clear) well I looked all over the kitchen and could NOT find my Protein Shake mixes!!! I totally broke down. Poor hubby came to my rescue. They were in a box under the kitchen sink where I'd put them the week before. oops. I just missed food soooo bad. Luckily I'm doing much better now!:)

I was in the most pain, just couldn't get comfortable at all and was SUPER depressed about food on day 4 and 5 and was up pacing around in the middle of the night crying and talking to myself lol. I'm really not nuts, but for those couple of days I wondered what the heck I had gotten myself into. Several days later I felt totally fine!

I'm sure it was just your body's way of letting go of all the pre-op stress. I don't cry that often either but do recall having a good one once I got back home. I don't think it was over the loss of food, just the fact that I made it through!

I had this two to three days after surgery too. I just kept thinking about how I had let things go for so long and I was already missing food (and Diet Coke). But here I am a week after, and doing great!

Stay strong! It will get easier!

I went through this too. In fact, I've seen lots of posts on this topic. I don't believe my issue was food related at all. I really think my body released extra hormones or something and I was extremely emotional for a few days. But, as the others have written...it should pass in a few days! Hang in there and good luck! It gets better--I promise!

Oh yes! I remember that first week after my surgery. I was crying and definitely mourning food. I felt terrible. I didn't have food to comfort me and didn't really know what to do. I was missing my favorite foods and was ablsolutely miserable. About a week later I adjusted and felt fine. Gosh, that week was horrible!

This is a very common reaction to the sedation drugs leaving your body. The drugs used to make you sleep for surgery cause this withdrawal syndrome. I had it happen when I had other surgeries too, I wish that more Dr.s would prepare people to expect this. It can really confuse you if you dont see it comming.

I believe that mourning the loss of a friend, (food) and the shock your body gets, adrenalin and trauma from surgery, and finally sitting still long enough to think about what just happened to you, these all contribute to getting emotional.

Just normal Id sayl

I am in the same boat as Victoriana on this one. Drugs definitely cause this reaction in me. I have learned the hard way that if I am on painkillers or sedatives or if I am withdrawing... it is NOT the time to call ex-boyfriends, my boss or anyone else to tell them how much they mean to me... or how much of an ass they are! I will be keeping my phone OFF for the week after surgery!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
