Im addicted to weighing "/

Recommended Posts

I weigh every day, sometimes twice a day. I was bummed when I missed it this morning after my 3 yo got out of his room and turned the vacuum on and I'm scrambling trying to figure out what just happened so early. By the time my brain registered it was too late. Oh well, there is tomorrow .... or tonight! :D

I told myself to weigh once a week but it's not possible. I can't help myself. My husband weighs on Mondays and he's perfectly content. He also has no problems losing weight so it's always a success for him.

The scale has pleased me this week although the 2 prior weeks it didn't move. But I guess I'm making up for it this week since I've lost over 4 pounds. If anything, I'm learning not to panic and stress so much about it.

In loss, I finally realized I was ruining my day with the scale, so I went to every few days or once a week. For two whole months I had my husband hide the dang thing and bring it out once a week. That did the trick - in that time I got out of the weighing habit (addiction!) and once it was back out I didn't obsess over it.

I hardly weighed during my pregnancy (it's upsetting to see the numbers go up more than a pound or two) but in regular maintenance I weigh every single day. Same drill - brush, pee, strip, weigh, shower...maybe weigh again. You know, 'cause I might have been really dirty or something and that caused the scale to bounce. ;)

I was driving myself positively insane postpartum because I was treating loss like maintenance - I was weighing daily. When I'm in loss my scale is all over the freaking place. I stay the same weight for several days, then drop a few only to gain them back a day later. If I have my cycle that week? Ugh - guaranteed I'm going up three pounds.

So a few days ago I put the scale away. Huge sigh of relief. In maintenance I MUST weigh daily or I'll hide from the scale that keeps me accountable. But in loss? Our numbers can change multiple times in just one day. If I were able to see that without feeling bad I'd be okay with it, but I'm not. I don't need to ride that rollercoaster!

I actually think I have a problem. I have my routine. 7 am I pee' date=' strip and weigh. If the number is good, I think about that all day and smile to myself. If there's no loss, especially for days in a row, I start wondering if I'm not Exercising enough, if I'm exercising too much, if I'm eating too many carbs, if I'm eating to many calories or not enough. It's crazy making.

Thing is though, I'm not sure I want to stop. I live for those loss days, they're a high for me.

But in all actuality, I'd really like to be free from this. I don't know if I can do it though.

It's like when we had mini snickers in the house and I wanted them really bad. I didn't want DH to hide them but he did and I lived. I was also really happy he did that and still am. I'd probably be happy if he hid the scales.

But then I wonder how ill know if something is amiss? What if I tell him I want to weigh once a week or Maybe even once a month? What if I don't lose for that entire month and I don't know because I'm not weighing? See how my mind works?

Did anyone overcome this?[/quote']

Sounds alot like me..lol ive been stuck betwen 283.2 and 284.5 ughhh for the last 2 days ..not calling it a stall yet..im also on puree but been having alot of Soup and stuff just really soft

I moved the scale to hubby's bathroom. Now it's a chore to remember to weigh once a week :)

In the same boat. :(

I keep telling myself I will stop shortly after surgery but Tuesday will be my 4 week mark. I go through the same emotional ups and downs you're talking about. In the end, I think I'm losing 3 - 4 pounds per week which should be fine. My twisted mind wants to see at least 1 pound per day and that's not realistic.

Sorry that didn't help, but at least you know you're not alone.

Glad Im not the only one! I'm 8 weeks out now and realizing the amazingly fast weight loss is over and I can expect 2-3 lbs a week now. I stalled for a few weeks not loosing a single lb, and just had to weigh myself everyday, sometimes multiple times a day. I'm getting over it now, and stepping on every other day or so. Its funny because when I was heavier I avoided the scales.

I am happy that I am not the only one doing this. I think that doing my weight daily keeps me accountable, I've been known to put on an excessive amount of weight in a very short time. I don't get too upset when the scale goes up, I've learned that my cycle has a huge impact on my weight. I guess the only measurement that upsets me is my waist, it takes forever to lose inches there. Pretty soon my hips will be smaller than my waist, not sure if that is possible though.

I think I'd honestly be at more peace with this way of thinking. I feel defeated when I see those little gains. I'm gonna have hubby hide he scales. Or maybe just put them in the downstairs bathroom. I honestly think I eat BETTER when I weigh less because j really want to see that number go down at the end of the week. It also changes my exercise too. Ill go back to only weighing Saturdays. Or that's the plan. I've said that before....

I weigh myself first thing in the morning after using the toilet :-) then when I come home from work I strip and weigh myself then before bed I weigh myself again. I get annoyed especially since I've been at a complete stall and battling the 1 lb gain loss game for A MONTH now..jeeeeeeez! I think some of the posters here are right though, it's not how many times you weigh yourself but how you feel about it. If you get on the scale and get depressed or freaked out then you should change your pattern so it doesn't bring you down all the time. It tweaks me out but then again I'm generally a tweaker :-) if I didn't get on the scale I'd be worse of mentally lol :-)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
