Hi everyone! I'm Lisa and I'm getting sleeved tomorrow. I've spent a year researching and hanging out here and I finally decided to have the surgery done. Is it normal to still be second guessing my decision? I'm very nervous and would appreciate any positive thoughts sent my way.

I'm being sleeved this Thursday. I'd be lying if I did't think long and hard about my decision again in the past week. It's extra hard being on this pre op diet and I think I'm kind of going through a food mourning. This will change our lives forever, but I know I want to be healthy and I know this will get me here. Try to keeps the reasons why you want/need this done and your ultimate goal in mind. Keep strong! Sounds like you've done your research and you know what's best for you. Good luck tomorrow!

Your doubts just mean you're taking this seriously; that's totally normal, and a good thing!

Good luck, I'll be joining you on the loser's bench in just over a week. You're going to do great!

Good Luck Lisa,

I had mine 4 days ago, and I am so thrilled that I am not tethered to my weight problem as I knew it. My hardest part of my surgical experience was the chatty room mates they gave me post op. Everything else went exactly as they told me it would, recovery too!

All My Best

Lisa, I think it's totally normal. Im scheduled for July 23, and have been working on this for almost a year. I stress about it at times. At least for me, this surgery means giving up my crutch of the last 20 years. I'm going to miss eating large quantities of crap. I'm not going to miss being fat and feeling like an old woman;). Love and prayers are coming your way. Go claim the life you are intended to have.

Elaine

I waited 10 years for this surgery, and I second guessed myself all the way up until they put me under. :-) I think its totally normal. I just told myself that I was scared to have the surgery, but I was MORE scared of what would happen if I didn't. My anticipation of the surgery was so much worse than the actual surgery was. You will do great!

Good luck. I too am being sleeved tomorrow, not feeling nervous. Not sure why. I was nervous but the closer I get the calmer I feel. Best wishes

Hello, Lisa,

I was sleeved last Tuesday, and yes it is natural for you to feel as you do. I felt, the same way.

I must tell you I have been blessed, 6 days out, I have not had a lot of negative issues, that some experience.

So my prayers are with you and your surgery team!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
