I honestly don't even notice. Without paying someone to cut out most of my stomach, I couldn't stop "shoveling" food into my mouth either. Put yourself in their shoes. They haven't had surgery. We all know how hard it is to control ourselves around food. The only difference between us and them is we have forced Portion Control. And maybe more motivation because of all we've been through. I'm pretty good at only worrying about myself though. Live and let live! Adults are 100% responsible for their own actions.

Most of us didnt love ourselves before the surgery gave us the will to. I thought it would be harder to cook for my family than it is. I made gumbo yesterday and I wasnt even tempted, I ate my stir fry instead. Today we all had blackened catfish (cooked healthfully and low fat), and they ate it along with me. I think in many instances we are all eating healthier, but I still make them some of their faves.

Can I just say as a pre-op person I feel like a hypocrite because I get on here while I'm eating! I did the same thing when I quit smoking... I increased my smoking while I stayed on a quit smoking website. It's like I transition one addiction onto another! I'm taking the advice of another person on this site tho.... I'm about to start dieting pre-op (after my b-day on Tuesday)! Until then I will feel like a hypocrite while I'm eating when I'm surfing on here. As for the OP.... try to change your irritation into sadness for their addiction. I will always be a food addict just like I will always be a smoker- I'll just be a food addict that chooses not to indulge....lol...and that also chooses not to smoke! Lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
