Mine was the pre-op! That was the hardest thing i ever have done! LOL, i kept thinking if i am struggling this much with pre-op how am i going to do after surgery! Thankfully it was not the case! I had no issues after surgery and have become a different person. I have to set my clock just to remind myself to EAT because i am Never hungry.

Wow never hungry! i wanna go where u went! lol

Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry you went through that! Where did you get sleeved that they did all that to you?!?!

Well I had a different but similar procedure called gastric plication with a highly rated and excellent doctor in Miami. The problem is, the procedure I had is newer and he only performs it at palmetto general in Hialeah, FL (which is less English speaking than Mexico!) and a horrible hospital in my opinion. Dr Sosa was great though and I ad no complications from the surgery itself. He does the sleeve and other wls at another hospital (which is where I had my daughter and is excellent) but just not my procedure yet! Reason I chose plication over sleeve was a few fold but it was also the only covered by my insurance as it treats acid reflux. I was 210, 5'6" and no medical issues at all (great sugar, cholesterol and BP and no apnea) AND there's no need to qualify or ave psych evaluations with plication! I paid the extra cost to have the stomach folded and sewn which cost $5,000 out of pocket on a $21,000 surgery.

I would tell someone considering it to wait until Sosa operates at memorial west though based on my experience.

Definitely waking up from the anesthesia, hands down. I went to Tijuana alone and was terrified and disoriented when I woke up... no fun. Thankfully, that part of recovery is over in no time! I'm only 12 days post-op though...

Oh, spontaneous hiccups are a little embarrassing when in public :P

LOL It's not as good as it seems really. I have to force myself to eat daily. I have never been a big eater my issue was what I ate when I did eat and all my drinks! So I still drink a ton but just sf stuff all day. Everyone thinks that is one reason I’m not losing as fast as I could because I’m still not getting in the needed calories and Protein no matter how hard I try! So I actually proved that theory this week because I just KNEW this wasn’t my issue LOL, I mean I do know everything (SO I THOUGHT LMAO). So I started sitting my timer to eat every 2 hours plus upping my calories and Protein and have managed to lose 6lbs since Sunday. So I can’t stress enough PROTEIN, PROTEIN and more PROTEIN. LOL

Worst part for me was the first 6 weeks. I didn't really know what to eat since I hated anything Protein related. But I made it thru,

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
